An immersive experience

UK IT Leaders Community day 2025 - 'Breaking Boundaries'

The UK IT Leaders Community Day 2025 took place at The Kimpton Hotel in Manchester, bringing together more than 250 senior IT professionals for our third annual gathering.

With the theme 'Breaking Boundaries,' the event delivered a dynamic day of inspiration, knowledge exchange, and meaningful community connection.

Pre-Event Roundtable Dinners

The evening prior, attendees joined one of five intimate roundtable dinners—each hosted within The Kimpton Hotel—providing the perfect opportunity to connect, share ideas, and set the stage for the main event.

Keynote speakers

The day opened with an extraordinary keynote from James MacDonald, Ultra-Endurance Cycling World Record Holder and Google Cloud Customer Engineer.

His talk, 'From Data Points to World Records: An Engineer's Approach to Breaking Boundaries,' explored the powerful intersection of data, mindset, and human potential.

This was followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion hosted by Codurance:

  • Peter King, Principal Consultant at Acumen Cyber – Your Next Breach Will Be Boring — And That’s the Problem
  • Philip White, Audacia – Balancing Innovation & Legacy: Managing Digital Strategies in an Era of Rapidly Advancing Technologies

The day’s keynote programme concluded with an inspiring session from Anna Hemmings MBE, OLY — Olympian and six-time World Champion, and the most decorated British female marathon kayaker. Her story of resilience and high performance offered an empowering finale.

Breakout Sessions & Charity Evening

Guests had the option to attend one of six breakout sessions, each delivering practical insight and stimulating discussion across a range of current IT and leadership topics.

The event wrapped with a lively charity evening featuring Bandeoke, where attendees showcased their singing talent, all to help support two local Manchester charities: The Mustard Tree and The Creative Living Centre.

The UK IT Leaders Community Day 2025 was a tremendous success—building on feedback from the previous two events and continuing our commitment to elevate, evolve, and push boundaries year after year.

UK IT Leaders Community day 2024 - 'Acting Differently'

The UK IT Leaders Community Day 2024 was held at The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre in Birmingham with the theme ‘Acting Differently.’  This was our second landmark event, drawing over 250 industry professionals for a day filled with inspiration, knowledge sharing, and community building.

Attendees were invited to attend one of the five roundtable dinners held the night before.  The main event featured keynote speeches, breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and concluded with a charity event, providing a well-rounded and impactful experience for all attendees.

Keynote speakers

The day started with an inspiring keynote for Sarah Armstrong-Smith, Chief Security Advisor at Microsoft.  Acting Differently – leading in cybersecurity.

Steve Lydford, COO at Codurance talked to the audience about Connecting Business Impact to Developer experience.  Richard Hutching, CTO at Littlefish discussed The Cloud Powered Workplace: EUC 2.0 and Mark Simpson, Technology Director at Griffiths Waite talked about Gaining Strategic Advantage with Generative AI. 

The final keynote speaker of the day was Kevin Sinfield CBE – Kevin is an English Rugby Union coach, currently the skills and kicking coach for the England National Team.

He talked about going ‘The extra mile. And lessons from rugby for life. 

This was an amazing keynote reflecting on his rugby career and how his outlook on life changed when his teammate Rob Burrow was diagnosed with MND. 

Breakout Sessions and Charity Event

Attendees were given a choice of eight breakout sessions to attend offered a wide range of topics and discussion.

The day concluded with a fun evening charity event where attendees were able to try out their skills playing VR games, and enjoy drinks served by a robotic bartender.  The chosen charity this year was the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

This event not only provided a relaxed atmosphere for further networking but also underscored the community's commitment to giving back. The UK IT Leaders Community Day 2024 was a resounding success, building on the success and learnings from the first one in 2023.

UK IT Leaders Community day 2023 - 'Thinking Differently'

The UK IT Leaders Community Day 2023, hosted at The Queens Hotel in Leeds, was a landmark event, drawing over 300 industry professionals for a day filled with inspiration, knowledge sharing, and community building.

The event featured keynote speeches, breakout sessions, ample networking opportunities, a delicious lunch, an engaging quiz, and concluded with a heartfelt charity event, providing a well-rounded and impactful experience for all attendees.

The event featured keynote speeches, beginning with Lara Vafiadis's captivating talk, “98 Days Alone on the Atlantic – Sharks, Snacks, and Solutions."

Her remarkable solo journey across the Atlantic provided a compelling narrative of resilience and problem-solving, leaving the audience both inspired and in awe of her tenacity.

Adding to the intellectual stimulation was a thought-provoking panel discussion with Littlefish on "AI and the Future of IT Support," where industry experts delved into the transformative impact of AI on IT support services. The panel explored both the opportunities and challenges posed by AI, providing valuable insights for attendees looking to future-proof their IT strategies.

The day also featured an engaging keynote by Jamie Peacock MBE, titled "Thinking Differently/Leading in Sport." Jamie's experiences from his illustrious rugby career offered profound lessons in leadership and innovation, resonating deeply with the audience.

Breakout Sessions, Charity Event and Quiz

In addition to the insightful presentations, the event included various breakout sessions that allowed attendees to dive deeper into specific topics and engage in meaningful discussions.

A fun and interactive quiz added an element of competition and camaraderie, further enhancing the sense of community. The day concluded with an evening charity event featuring food and drinks, where attendees came together to support Motor Neurone Disease and Action for Children.

The structured networking opportunities, such as roundtable discussions and networking breaks, allow executives to engage in meaningful conversations and build lasting relationships with their peers.

This event not only provided a relaxed atmosphere for further networking but also underscored the community's commitment to giving back. Overall, the UK IT Leaders Community Day 2023 was a resounding success, blending professional development with community spirit and charity, leaving attendees enriched and inspired.
